Have you ever wanted to create a zine but don’t know where to start? Have you never heard of the term ‘zine’ and want to learn about a fun way to explore your passions using different art forms? This class will take you through how to make a zine, a small self-published art book, from start to finish. We’ll talk a little bit about the history of zine-making and why it still is important today, as well as go through several different art forms to create some zines we’re proud of! People of all skill-levels are welcome here.
Materials (some will be provided):
A drawing pad (9x12 or similar size, with approx. 24 sheets)
Some drawing pencils
Eraser
A set of fine-tip ink markers (2 - 3 black markers of various tip sizes, but you’re welcome to bring more/colourful ones if you’d like!)
Come with some ideas for zines in mind! Suggestions include: things you're passionate about (hobbies, people, etc.), a good story or memory, a political statement you believe in, or anything else you'd like to make a little book about.
