Watercolour- Beginner

This beginner’s course will introduce students to techniques and process of watercolour on paper. We will explore colour mixing and various brush techniques. No previous experience is necessary.

Materials List

Winsor Newton Cotman Sketchers Box 12 colours

Watercolor round brushes #02, #6 and #8 or 10,and a ¾ inch are the basic sizes to

bring. You want hair and not bristle brushes. Buy medium priced brushes, synthetic

brushes will suffice, sables are great but quite expensive. Brushes should flex easily to

slight pressure. Also needed is a ceramic pallet or a white dinner plate will work.

Paper: pad of Strathmore Watercolour 400 series (9x12 inches) or other 140 lb ( 300gm0

cold press w.c. paper such as Arches or BFK.

Pencil and eraser

Paper towels and or smaller soft rags of similar size to paper towel

2 Yogurt containers for water

A smaller fine spray mister  (sprayer)
