COURSE- Creative Monoprinting Using the Press with Amanda Chesney

In this fun and relaxed class, you’ll discover the magic of creating one-of-a-kind prints through monoprinting. No previous printmaking experience required. Unlike other printmaking methods aimed to produce multiple identical prints, monoprinting allows for endless experimentation and individuality, reflecting your personal artistic style.

In this 6-session class, we will start with the basics of rolling inks, mark-making, printing onto paper and how to print ghost images. Learn to build texture and depth into your image through use of fabrics and textured objects. Build your image repertoire through stencils, masks and colour gradients. Explore the option of incorporating other media such as pastel, watercolour and water-soluble pencils into your monoprints. 

Throughout the class, participants will be using the etching press located at the Button Factory.  Parts of a press, how to set the correct pressure, safety / housekeeping and tips for printmaking success will be covered.  

Please note: 

• Attending the full class term is the responsibility of the student. No refunds or credits are issued for missing classes and educators will not schedule any additional instructor-led make-up classes.
• Refunds are issued up to two weeks before your class starts.  After this period there are no refunds. 

• With 2 or more weeks notice, we deduct 10% payment processing servicing fees from the total amount refunded or offer store credit with no deductions.
