Explore meaningful memories through intuitive, process-based acrylic painting in this reflective workshop for adults. Rather than focusing on realism, participants will use colour, layering, and abstraction to express the emotional essence of a memory. Through gentle prompts and guided exploration, we will experiment with painting different emotions, building layers of meaning, and allowing shapes, atmosphere, and feeling to emerge on the canvas. Open to all skill levels.

Capture the vibrant warmth of the morning dawn and the breathtaking colors of dusk in this workshop. Whether you are a total beginner or a seasoned maker, this will be the perfect opportunity to design and create high-quality pieces inspired by the transitions of daylight as you explore and learn jewelry-making techniques. You will have time to make a pair of earrings and a necklace. Along the way, you’ll learn or build on foundational techniques such as stringing, beading, and working with wire. For beginners, instruction and individual support ensures you feel confident and walk away with jewelry you’re proud of. Experienced makers will enjoy an inspiring environment where instruction is tailored to your skill level.

    Dawn and Twilight Palette:

A highlight of the workshop is a curated Inspiration Bar with premium materials, a wide variety of beads, and creative findings to make every piece unique. Choose dramatic and vibrant tones that showcase deep twilight gradients or opt for soft tones that highlight dawn pastels.

    Earring Project Options:

Learn how to design and make asymmetrical earrings capturing a sunrise and sunset pairing, or bead shimmering sunrise or sunset-hued crystal earrings in a traditional style.

    Necklace Project Options:

Learn how to wire wrap beads and other theme-related components to create your own delicate chain, or hand make links for a bolder look.

Through this workshop students use different types of charcoal, such as vine and compressed charcoal, to achieve various textures within a single artwork. Charcoal is one of the highly reversible drawing mediums. By creating a wide variety of expressive marks with charcoal, including lines, hatching, cross-hatching, stippling, and smudging students can practice conveying a sense of depth, texture, and detail to their work.

The other technique covered in this workshop is layering. Charcoal, smudge blender, and eraser can be layered to build up depth and opacity. Layering is essential for developing complex shading and rendering realistic features and volume. The unique characteristic of charcoal makes it a favoured choice for students looking to create expressive and dynamic drawings.

The fundamentals of still life center on composition, lighting, colour, texture and perspective. Attention to detail is important as metal, fabric or glass reflect light differently. The methods used in this workshop allow artists to explore symbolism and mood turning ordinary objects into meaningful studies.

Summer Memories! Don't let your memories fade—wear them instead! Jewelry-Making Workshop

Summer has a way of leaving behind little treasures - a smooth stone from a river stream, a weathered piece of driftwood, or a shell found on the shore. These found objects often carry the memories of our most cherished stories. In this workshop, you'll make a unique and one-of-a-kind pendant necklace to give your personal memories a permanent home.

Bring a special souvenir from Summer to feature in your necklace, or pick from a wide variety of materials to craft your design - driftwood, beach glass, theme-related charms, and more. Learn basic jewelry-making techniques and how to incorporate that special memento into your pendant.

Whether you're a seasoned maker or picking up pliers for the first time, everything you need to create a handcrafted reminder of your favourite summer days will be provided.

Primary colours: Red, Blue and Yellow are basic hues that cannot be created by mixing other colours together and they are the building blocks of all other colours. In this workshop you will learn how to mix secondary colours: greens, oranges and violet and tertiary colours: yellow green, red orange and blue violet. We'll identify complementary colours and learn how to 'desaturate" a colour with its complement. By the end of this 3-hour workshop you will have a better understanding of the possible colours in your acrylic 'paintbox' and a colour wheel to use as a future reference. All materials will be supplied.

In this class we’ll be looking at the basics of creating mosaics for function and beauty.  We’ll learn how to plan out designs (or go freestyle!), and what types of tiles (ceramic, vitreous glass) work best in different situations.  We’ll also learn how to cut the tiles, how to place them for best effect, and how to grout to complete the project.  Everyone will have the chance to complete two coasters or small trivets using the crazy paving and roman byzantine styles.
